The Merrimack River is a 125 mile, living, breathing body feeding every single one of us. She runs through this land like a mother, stead fast and committed; home to herring, bald eagles, Eastern brook trout and thousands of other species of wild life. Our Merrimack is the "birthplace of American industry," having provided the mills with her power and transportation for generations. Loyal and tireless, she provides drinking water to over 600 thousand people from Andover, Methuen, Tewksbury, Lowell, Lawrence, Nashua and yet she is abused, neglected, poisoned and forgotten.  

   Many people are unaware that the Merrimack River feeds Hagget's Pond, which is Andover's drinking reservoir. People like Governor Charlie Baker, Senator Diana Dizoglio, and the Merrimack River Watershed Council are working to rid the Merrimack of chemical waste and sewerage run off while other organizations like Clean River Project are cleaning up the pollution, that choke her shores.

   How can we take so much from this river and treat her so poorly, let alone serve such low standards to our children? This is not only an environmental issue but a HEALTH issue. Please help me get the attention of Andover and other towns that cleaning the river must be a TOP PRIORITY in 2020! Let your voice be HEARD!
