As we all know, the COVID-19 has affected us all in many different ways. My name is Courtney Wilson, I am a senior at Salem High School and I need your help. We just found out that if we don’t go back to school we will be having a virtual graduation ceremony. We have all worked so hard for this huge milestone in our lives, and we deserve better than a virtual graduation even with our current circumstances. There are many different ways we could go about this so we still get to experience a somewhat traditional graduation. I am proposing we hold several micro graduations at our outdoor football field in place of one large ceremony, to properly social distance. And to only hold a crowd strictly limited to immediate family that are properly distanced from other families that the field is capable of holding. It will take more time and proper planning but I believe we owe this to our seniors and their families. For extended family and friends we could offer a live streaming of the ceremonies. We know the times are hard, we know we aren’t going to get a normal graduation but we can make it as normal as possible while following the CDC guidelines. We have worked so hard over these last four years. We deserve this at the very least!!! Please help me to get my fellow classmates and I the closest thing to a real graduation during these hard times.
