During this semester, property destruction and theft has been at an all time high at Muskingum University. The school has instilled no security measures to prevent these things from happening. Windows have been broken, fire extinguishers and microwaves have been stolen, and signs have been torn down. Instead of doing the logical thing and installing security measures, such as cameras, the school has decided to fine everyone at the school for reparations regarding these damages. Muskingum University is not a cheap school, tuition starts at $28,878. This means that many students who pay for their own school expenses likely do not have room in their budget to cover the costs for reparations. This is both unfair to the students and their families. We as the student body should not have to pay for the damages due to the schools incompetence. It is also not fair, nor logical, that we have to pay for other students lack of respect for their surroundings. If you agree with this stance, I urge you sign this petition.
