Please make Indian Currency accessible for the Blind

It pains us immensely to bring to your notice that the newly introduced bank notes has made daily living very difficult and has led to direct negative impact on the independence and livelihood of over 52 lakh Blind in India.

Here are the key challenges of the blind citizens:

1. Concern: No variation in size of different bank notes.

2. Concern: Imperceptible bleed lines / tactile marking.

3. Concern: No variation in shape, size and colour in coins.

4. Concern: Inaccessible banking websites and apps

5. Concern: Inaccessible ATMs

The goal of this campaign is to reach out to Prime Minister, Finance
Ministry and RBI as one voice requesting them to make all modes of
making monetary transactions – bank notes, coins, websites, apps and
ATMs accessible for the Blind in India.

This has direct implication on the livelihood and independence of
blind. The authorities are likely to be more responsive only if
several NGOs from across the country reach out to them from across the
country. We are more likely to be heard and successful if you could
write to the authorities and strengthen the voice of blind across the
country.
