Le problème

Five innocent infant orangutans are currently being held captive in India after a failed illegal wildlife trafficking attempt. Their presence here follows a heartbreaking separation from their families and natural habitats in Indonesia, a region renowned for its rich biodiversity and numerous conservation efforts aimed at protecting endangered species like orangutans, who are already facing critical threats in the wild due to deforestation and habitat destruction.

These young orangutans find themselves in a distressing situation—removed from their maternal care, their current existence is profoundly unnatural and damaging, both mentally and physically. Orangutans are highly intelligent and social animals, whose developmental needs cannot be met while kept in confinement away from their natural environment. The early trauma of being snatched from their families and the subsequent stress of captivity pose severe threats to their well-being, impeding their ability to learn essential survival skills.

Returning them to a sanctuary in Indonesia, where they can be rehabilitated professionally, is crucial. Rehabilitation centers in Indonesia are specifically equipped to care for orphaned orangutans, providing them with the environment and training necessary to eventually reintegrate them into the wild. These centers employ experienced caregivers and veterinary staff who understand the specific nutritional, social, and psychological needs of infant orangutans.

These orangutans deserve to thrive in the lush forests of their native country, under the care of experts who can nurture and prepare them for a life of freedom. It's vital for us to urge the Indian authorities to coordinate with Indonesian wildlife conservation bodies and international organizations to arrange for the safe and expedited return of these orangutans to a reputable sanctuary in Indonesia.

By signing this petition, you lend your voice against illegal wildlife trafficking and contribute to the efforts aimed at conserving one of the world’s most incredible species. We need to act now to ensure these infant orangutans are given the chance to live full, healthy lives in their natural habitat, where they belong. Please sign this petition and help us return these innocent beings home.
