An apolitical appeal to the President elect to adopt a rescue animal as the next White House pet. The aim of this petition is twofold: to draw attention to the plight of shelter animals and rescue organizations throughout the U.S., and to unite people of varying beliefs in a positive way. 

The tradition of the U.S. President having a "First Pet" is an opportunity to spotlight the important cause of animal rescue. Maybe it's possible that through this we can also find some small common ground (regardless of, and with respect to, all personal beliefs). Animals lovers are animals lovers, no matter who or how unique they are.

Please consider that adopting a shelter animal gives twice; to the animal and to the rescue organization, as it provides the organization with the resources and space required to save another animal.

This cause is founded upon the belief that hate stands stagnant, gratitude gives, and love multiplies - without judgement of who it comes from, their identity, opinions, or creeds.
