Thousands of fans were heartbroken when the Shakira and Jason Aldean concerts at Fenway Park were suddenly canceled due to structural issues with the staging. Safety comes first, of course but canceling outright, without a plan to reschedule, isn’t fair to the fans who traveled far and waited months for this moment.

Some flew in from Colombia. Others drove across states. Many were celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or once-in-a-lifetime milestones. For some, this was their very first concert. And for many in Boston, this was supposed to be a rare and unforgettable night at an iconic venue.

We understand that staging issues can happen. But what we ask is simple: Don’t cancel — reschedule. These artists and their fans deserve better than a one-line refund notice.

Live Nation and Fenway Concerts: Boston still wants this show. Let’s make it happen. Find a new date and give fans the night they were promised.
