I come forward as a former volunteer, revealing experiences of witnessing employees misconduct and animal mistreatment at Yonkers Animal Shelter. The shelter should be a sanctuary for animals, but recent accusations towards the staff have raised disquieting concerns about the safety of animals under their care.

Recently, this issue came to public light when multiple volunteers shared similar concerns of possible abuse. Subsequently, the city conducted an investigation but yielded no malpractice. However, this does not disprove the incidents reported as we all understand, animals cannot vocalize their distress or bear witness to their treatment.

It's documented that when surveillance cameras are introduced into an institution like this, incidents of mistreatment fall significantly. Such cameras can help shelter staff correct errors and prevent potential abuse, offering transparent and accountable care to our defenseless friends.

Therefore, it's crucial we demand Yonkers Animal Shelter to install surveillance cameras throughout their facilities. By doing this, we ensure all animals' safety and well-being within their care.
