Water testing has continued at locations along the River Wriggle and its tributaries. Results and updates on the Facebook page “Brister End and Wriggle Valley Untreated Sewage Discharge Information.”

The petition continues to gain strong support, now exceeding 1,500 signatures, a significant milestone and a clear demonstration of the community’s concern and commitment to protecting our river.

Progress is also being made on the clean rainwater harvesting pilot project in Brister End. This week, information leaflets were delivered to households in the area, inviting residents to register their interest in taking part and helping to reduce clean rainwater entering the sewer system.

If you have not yet received a leaflet, please don’t worry further deliveries will take place next week. We would encourage residents to complete and return the questionnaire, as this will help us assess local interest ahead of the public meeting in May.

On Monday, I will be meeting with Julian Okoye (Commercial and Strategy Manager) and Matt Wheeldon (Director of Infrastructure Development) Wessex Water to discuss the project further and explore how they can support its development going forward.

Engagement with local Parish Councils continues. The W.A.T.E.R. group will work closely with them, while remaining an independent, community-led organisation. We are progressing plans to formally establish W.A.T.E.R. as a Community Interest Company (CIC), with a minimum of three Directors.

If you would like to be part of this important and growing initiative, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
