My daughter is only five years old and every day she has to make the long walk to and from the bus stop at the end of Apperson Street in Fort Gay, WV. For a child her age, this distance is not only daunting but also exhausting. She often cries at night because her legs hurt from the walk, and it pains me to see her go through this repeatedly. I am currently without a car, and due to health issues, I'm unable to accompany her to the bus stop, at this time my mother her grandmother walks her for me.

It's not just my daughter who faces this challenging trek; neighbors and friends on our street have young children facing the same difficulties. We are concerned for the well-being and security of all of our children.

Thanks to community support, we have identified ample space and have obtained permissions from property owners for the school bus to turn around without any hassle. This adjustment would not only ease the burden on our children but also ensure their safety and security, providing peace of mind for us parents.

We are asking Wayne County Schools to consider the simple yet significant change of having the school bus drive up Apperson Street. This will grant our children safer and more accessible transportation options, reducing their daily stress and improving our community's overall well-being.
