Require Schools to Investigate Before Firing Teachers Over Social Media

The Issue

Today I taught my full day, and by 4 p.m. I was fired. No warning, no write-up, no real chance to speak for myself. I had been getting praise, solid evaluations, and love from my students, and then suddenly it was like none of that mattered because students allegedly found my social media on their own.

What hurts the most is being treated like I did something harmful when I know the kind of teacher I was. I showed up for my kids. I encouraged them, I poured into them, I went to their basketball games and football games on my own time, and I never once put my students in harm's way. Teachers should not be discarded over accusations and assumptions without a real investigation, especially when their record shows care, professionalism, and commitment.

Schools need a fair process before they take someone's livelihood. That means reviewing the facts, documenting concerns, giving teachers a chance to respond, and using clear standards for social media situations instead of panic and hearsay. No educator should teach a full day thinking everything is fine and then be fired hours later over something that was never properly addressed.

I am speaking up because this cannot keep happening to people who have dedicated themselves to students. If you believe teachers deserve fairness, dignity, and due process before life-changing decisions are made, please sign this petition and help demand better.
