The Issue

As a daily commuter between Norco and Eastvale and a frequent driver around Eastvale, I face the frustrating situation of encountering unexpected road and lane closures due to construction or maintenance. Myself and others, find themselves trapped in traffic or forced to take detours due to closures that were not adequately announced in advance. These unexpected disruptions not only waste valuable time but also generate unnecessary traffic congestion and contribute to increased vehicular emissions. Mandatory and preemptive electronic signage can radically improve this situation. By requiring construction companies to place electronic warning signs a day or two before closing roads or lanes, drivers will have the opportunity to plan alternative routes, improving traffic flow and reducing congestion. While it’s common practice to use signage for long-term construction projects, it's crucial to extend this to short-term, mid-day closures as well. Let's give drivers the notice we need to keep our journeys smooth and our cities moving. Sign this petition and call for the mandatory use of preemptive electronic signage for road and lane closures.
