In recent years, I've witnessed my own property in New Zealand, along with multiple others, suffer from the imposing shadow of exotic trees planted by One Forty One Limited. Each day, these grand but unsuitable trees rob our homes of precious sunlight, leaving us with just 5 hours of sunshine daily. Sadly, I am not alone in this predicament; many rural properties and lifestyle block owners accross the country are sharing the same frustrations.

The exotic trees, while grand, were never intended for residential or rural areas where access to sunlight is crucial for our daily life, mental well-being, and overall property value. Sunlight is a vital resource for homeowners, and lack of it can lead to increased heating costs, higher electricity bills, and diminished quality of life. The charm and character of our native landscape are being overshadowed by these non-native plantations, disrupting the indigenous ecosystem.

Numerous studies and environmental experts highlight the importance of native bush in preserving biodiversity and maintaining a natural balance. Native plants support local wildlife, enhance soil quality, and are more suited to our climate and landscape needs. By replacing these exotic trees with native bush in the effected areas, not only will we restore sunlight access to affected homes, but we will also promote a healthier, more sustainable environment.

This is why we urge One Forty One Limited to take immediate action: Remove all exotic trees adversely affecting our residential and rural properties and choose not to replant them with the same non-native species. Instead, let's embrace the rich natural heritage of New Zealand by planting indigenous flora that will benefit both the local ecosystem and property owners alike.

We recognize the economic efforts and investments that have been made, but believe that maintaining the unique ecological identity of New Zealand and the well-being of its residents takes precedence. 

There is plenty of rural land within New Zealand that exotic forests can be planted that do not affect anyone. Why should people suffer with lack of sunlight while companys profit. Last financial year OFO limited turned a profit of half a billion dollars, removing a small amount of trees accross the country will not seriously impact the bottom line
