Require mandated harassment training for The Mineshaft Bar staff in Long Beach, CA.
The Issue
Hello, my name is Adri, and I am starting this petition because of an incident I experienced at Mineshaft Bar in Long Beach that left me feeling deeply violated, unsafe, and humiliated. I believe these proposed changes can help prevent something similar from happening to someone else.
On Sept 5, 2026, I went to Mineshaft Bar in Long Beach, CA to celebrate a friends birthday. Within minutes of entering the bar, a friend and i went to use the restroom and were unexpectedly exposed to by a bar staff member and told to “get the fuck out. I was not given the opportunity to cover myself or compose myself before other people entered and could see me.
Following this incident, I also experienced verbal harassment online from that same employee. This conduct has added to the distress caused by the original incident and raises further concerns about accountability, professionalism, and the power imbalance involved.
The following image is the bars official statement after my video went public:

The following video is my response to their statement:
The following comments and messages were allegedly written by the bar staff member that barged in on us:

The following messages are untruthful (our conversation was less than 15 minutes) and were allegedly written by the manager i spoke with:

The video included on this petition provides additional context about what happened. Additional information can always be found on my social media.
I understand that businesses may have rules regarding restroom use. However, those expectations should be clearly communicated to patrons, and misunderstandings should never result in someone being exposed, yelled at, humiliated, or subsequently harassed online.
I am asking Mineshaft Bar management to take meaningful steps to address what happened and prevent similar situations in the future.
Specifically, I am asking Mineshaft to:
● Clearly communicate the intended use and occupancy of the shared restroom. Their current signage is clearly not prominent enough to avoid this issue; as there are publically available previous accounts of this happening to female patrons before me:
the following images are yelp reviews regarding restroom usage and verbal abuse by employees that predate my personal incident:

● Provide staff with appropriate training on restroom privacy, harassment, discrimination, online conduct, and de-escalation.
● Establish clear procedures for addressing restroom misunderstandings while protecting patrons’ privacy and dignity.
● Review the circumstances surrounding the incident and the subsequent online harassment, including the conflict of interest created by the employee’s relationship with the bar’s owner.
● Provide an appropriate response, public apology, and meaningful accountability.
● Commit to creating a safer and more respectful environment for all patrons, especially their trans and gender non-conforming patrons.
The following images are comments and DMs sent to my personal social media accounts following the incident. These are all regarding the community’s experiences with safety and harassment concerns at Mineshaft Bar:

The following video is to clear up misconceptions:
Mineshaft is part of Long Beach’s illustrious queer nightlife. Patrons should be able to expect that their privacy and dignity will be respected when they visit, both in person and online.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for a commitment to public safety, clear communication, accountability, and respect.
If you believe that everyone deserves to feel safe and respected while using a restroom and participating in queer nightlife, please sign this petition and support these requests for meaningful changes at Mineshaft Bar.
Protect queer night life—always; but queer night life needs to protect us back.
