Numerous studies indicate that pursuits result in substantial community costs, not just in terms of lives lost but also in property damage and legal liabilities. The implementation of a standardized policy could mitigate these losses dramatically and also improve officer training, ensuring they have the tools needed to handle such situations more safely and effectively.

Other states have successfully adopted uniform policies with positive outcomes, lowering fatalities and injuries related to police chases. For instance, Florida and California have policy frameworks that limit pursuits based on the severity of the offense and the risk posed to the public, effectively balancing enforcement with public safety.
