Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I recently spoke with Kristine Bush, who serves as District Director to State Senator Rosemary Brown, about this petition. Senator Brown has long been passionate about animal welfare, which led to the creation of the Pennsylvania Animal Protection Caucus. Since then, a number of proposals have been introduced to strengthen protections for animals and improve coordination between agencies.

The Senator’s office shared that she is currently developing new legislation that would further these goals. One idea under consideration would require a portion of local law enforcement officers to receive ASPCA training, helping ensure officers are better prepared to respond to animal-related cases.

While some legislative progress has been delayed due to the state budget process, Senator Brown remains focused on advancing common-sense, bipartisan legislation related to animal welfare. The office said they will bring this petition and its specific goals calling for licensing and regulation of cat rescues in Pennsylvania.directly to the Senator’s attention for review as this legislation moves forward.
