The lack of a robust verification system is leaving many tutors vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, and unethical practices by certain students who create multiple fake accounts. As a tutor on this platform, I, along with countless other professionals, have been adversely affected by this oversight.

Fake accounts expose tutors to inappropriate and traumatizing behavior, such as students flashing genitalia, masturbating on video, or sending sexually explicit messages. These traumatic experiences not only affect the mental well-being of tutors but can also tarnish the reputation of the platform, driving away valuable educators.

The creation of multiple fake accounts also enables students to harass and stalk tutors, exploiting the anonymity provided by the platform. The ability to repeatedly contact tutors through unlimited fake profiles increases the risk of continued harassment, leaving tutors feeling unsafe and unprotected.

Furthermore, the misuse of trial lessons by students, who repeatedly create new fake accounts to receive 'free' lessons, not only undermines the value of the services provided by tutors but also allows repeat offenders to target multiple victims infinitely. This recidivist revolving door policy destroys the well-being of tutors and impacts their entire lives. 

Preply must implement some form of ID verification for students. By doing so, tutors can choose to have a verified user base, significantly mitigating the risks of abuse and fraud on the platform. Verified accounts would receive more tutors to choose from, enhance accountability, and foster a safer, more trusting learning environment for both tutors and students.

This change is crucial to ensuring that tutors are protected and comfortable conducting lessons without fear of harassment or exploitation. I urge Preply to prioritize the welfare of its tutors by instituting a reliable ID verification process for students.
