Look, I got on here because I am tired of watching caregivers get told the same thing over and over again: take a breath, practice self-care, hang in there. And yes, people mean well, but sometimes you do not need another reminder. Sometimes you need actual help. That is why I shared Eldercare Locator, because so many of us are sitting there caring for an older adult thinking, I do not even know what kind of help is available where I live.

The problem is this resource is only useful if families hear about it in time. Too many caregivers are already overwhelmed, exhausted, and trying to hold everything together before anyone points them toward caregiver support, respite, transportation, meals, or other local services. By the time we finally find help, we are often already deep in burnout. Families should not have to stumble across critical support by luck on social media.

That is why I am calling on hospitals, primary care clinics, and discharge teams to give every family caregiver information about Eldercare Locator when an older adult is diagnosed, discharged, or shows clear support needs. If trained staff can connect people to local aging services, then that information needs to be placed directly in caregivers' hands at the moments when they are most likely to need it. We already know family caregivers are doing too much with too little support. The least our systems can do is make sure people know where to start.
