In the event they lie or intentionally misrepresent the truth, it should be actionable as lying to Congress or perjury, with appropriate consequences enforced.

There is precedence for truth-telling under oath within our justice system; we should extend this standard to our leaders when they speak to the nation. By implementing this measure, we can restore faith in our political institutions and reassure the public that the information they receive is accurate and trustworthy.
