The Issue

When we think about the values that we hold dear at Lincoln-Way West High School, inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance come to mind. Yet, "Club America" stands as an affront to these fundamental principles. It is nothing short of a platform that has fostered discriminatory practices, targeting students who simply wish to live their lives authentically and without fear.

Club America is not just a gathering place for sharing ideas; it has become a breeding ground for opinions that promote racism, homophobia, and misogyny. This is not only concerning but dangerous. Our school should be a safe haven for all students, regardless of their ethnicity, sexual orientation, or stance on human rights.

The presence of this club challenges the very fabric of what education at Lincoln-Way West should stand for. It creates a divisive environment where hate is not only tolerated but seemingly endorsed under the guise of free expression. As students who attend this school, we believe everyone deserves respect and equality without judgement.

The removal of "Club America" is not only necessary but urgent. By allowing this club to operate, we are sending a message that hateful rhetoric is welcome within our walls. This is not the message our school community stands for, and it is not the message future generations should be subjected to.

We call upon the administration of Lincoln-Way West High School to take immediate action and disband "Club America." By doing so, we can restore an environment where every student feels secure and respected for their individuality.

Please sign this petition to support a safe, inclusive, and unified educational environment for all students at Lincoln-Way West High School. Let's make our voices heard and bring about the positive change our community desperately needs.
