Require Amazon to Protect Workers Reporting Retaliation and Harassment
The Issue
I did not want to take this route on social media, but I feel like I have been pushed here. I have been trying to make a paper trail at Amazon, and when I went back to look up the cases I put in, they were not where they were supposed to be. I was told that was weird, that there should be a link, that there should still be a paper trail somewhere, and that is exactly why I am speaking up. When you are already dealing with retaliation and harassment, even your own records starting to look off makes you feel like the ground is moving under your feet.
This is bigger than just me having a bad week at work. No worker should feel like reporting a problem will only make things worse. No one should have to walk into work with their head down, stop caring about how they show up, and feel like they are being discredited, isolated, and watched just because they tried to speak up. If this can happen to one worker who is doing everything she can to document what is going on, it can happen to other workers too.
I am calling on Amazon to immediately protect workers who report retaliation and harassment by preserving all case records, restoring easy access to employee complaints in the systems where they were filed, investigating reports of impersonation and anonymous harassment, and making sure no manager or associate can quietly punish someone for speaking up. Amazon has the power to make its reporting systems trustworthy and to stop workers from being left alone in a situation like this.
If you believe workers deserve to report problems without being targeted, sign this petition. If you believe a paper trail should actually protect the worker who made it, sign this petition. I am asking for real accountability and real protection, because nobody should have to beg to feel safe and heard at work.
