Require All Dogs to Be on Leashes in Public Places

The Issue

Recently, I encountered another intimidating situation with a lead-less dog. This personal experience pinpoints a serious problem we face on a broader scale in our community. Numerous members of the public, like me, are constantly anxious and uncomfortable due to dogs moving around without leads.

I walk my small dog and fear she would not stand a chance against a dog not on a lead or where the owner is not in control. Somehow hearing 'its ok they're friendly' does not bring peace of mind, especially recently, when a dog is dragging its female owner across the carpark to get to my dog who was having a drink of water by the side of my car, when we know dogs don't always respond to commands made by their owners! Sorry doesn't cut it!

Dogs, off-leash, pose potential threats to other animals, individuals and particularly children who are most likely to be severely injured by dog bites or at least become nervous and frightened at the uncertainty of how a dog, they don't know, will behave.

This appeal is simple yet highly necessary. We are requesting mandatory leash laws for all dogs in public spaces, large or small. By doing this, we can increase comfort, safety and public health, protecting our citizens and supporting responsible pet ownership.

Through this petition, we are urging our local authorities to implement stricter regulations ensuring all dogs are kept on leads when in public. This is a critical step that can prevent future incidents and unwanted confrontations. Together, we can create a safer and more comfortable community environment for everyone. Please, sign this petition and let's bring this necessary change.
