Require Action on Employee Bullying at Jane Phillips Medical Center

Require Action on Employee Bullying at Jane Phillips Medical Center

The Issue

For almost five years, I dedicated myself to my role as a PBX operator at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville,OK. Then I found myself facing a year-long battle against relentless bullying after standing up to a coworker. My supervisor, instead of offering support, began excluding me from work updates, engaging in gossip about me, and writing me up for incidents I had no part in. Despite reaching out to management and HR repeatedly, my cries for help were ignored. I even begged not to be left alone with the coworker who bullied me, but my requests were met with indifference. Saddeningly, I was treated as if I were the cause of the problems I was facing. Every day became a struggle, overwhelming me with dread before each workday. Ultimately, I made the painful choice to leave a job that I once cherished.

No one should ever feel trapped, punished, or ignored when subjected to bullying in the workplace. The environment at Jane Phillips Medical Center must change to ensure employees are valued, heard, and protected from such toxicity. The lack of intervention from those in powerful positions only perpetuates a culture that allows bullying to thrive, causing talented and committed employees to abandon their posts and seek solace elsewhere.

Jane Phillips Medical Center has a responsibility to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment for all of its staff members. It's essential that they implement a robust anti-bullying policy, establish clear reporting mechanisms, and commit to taking swift and decisive action against bullying behavior. Training initiatives should be introduced to educate both supervisors and employees on how to recognize, report, and effectively handle workplace bullying. Protections must also be in place to shield those who come forward from retaliation.

By signing this petition, you are urging Jane Phillips Medical Center to adopt comprehensive measures that address bullying swiftly and decisively. Let's ensure that no one else has to endure what I, and likely many others, have suffered. Join us in demanding a commitment to dignity, safety, and respect for every employee. Sign the petition today to be part of this crucial change.
