Our community is deeply concerned about the increasing incidents of theft at our local mall. Over the past few months, multiple thefts have occurred, causing distress and unease among shoppers and store owners alike. What is even more alarming is that none of the stores have live video footage cameras installed, leaving us vulnerable and without any means to deter or identify perpetrators.

The current security measures are insufficient—our security guards, while diligent, are not equipped or authorized to handle those who choose to disrupt the peace within our mall. This has left our community feeling vulnerable, and with the increasing frequency of these incidents, it is only a matter of time before a more serious threat or danger occurs.

It's crucial to act promptly and decisively to ensure the safety and security of all visitors and employees at the mall. We strongly believe that having a sheriff stationed at the mall from Friday through Sunday will be a strong deterrent against criminal activities and will provide a reassuring presence for all shoppers.

Local law enforcement can coordinate with mall management to designate an on-duty sheriff specifically for weekends, providing not only a sense of safety but an immediate response to any criminal activities. Many malls across the country have benefited from this practice, leading to a significant decrease in theft and other disturbances.

We urge local authorities and law enforcement agencies to prioritize our community's safety by implementing this measure. Our families, friends, and businesses count on the mall not just as a place to shop, but as an integral part of our community.
