The Issue

I’m speaking about what I’ve seen in my own city. In Winter Springs, I recently exposed what I described as half a million dollars in wasteful spending, and I’ve said there appears to be more waste and abuse happening inside City Hall. That is exactly why I support giving taxpayers relief instead of asking residents to keep carrying the burden while government spending goes unchecked. People in our community work too hard for their money to watch it disappear into waste.

This is bigger than one budget line. When families hear officials talk about taxes, they deserve to know whether every dollar is being handled responsibly first. If there is wasteful spending in City Hall, then the answer cannot be to scare residents into thinking they have no choice but to accept more of the same. Accountability has to come before excuses, and transparency has to come before fear.

That’s why I’m calling on Winter Springs city leaders to require a full public audit and public disclosure of wasteful spending, including the areas already brought to light and any additional misuse of taxpayer money that may exist. Residents should be able to see where money is going, what was misspent, and what corrective action will be taken. If leaders want public trust, they need to earn it by putting the facts on the table and ending waste at the source.

I believe taxpayers deserve relief, and I also believe police and fire can and should remain fully funded. Those two things are not opposites when government starts by cleaning up waste. If you agree that Winter Springs residents deserve honesty, accountability, and real stewardship of our tax dollars, please sign this petition.
