The Issue

After contributing 20 years of combined service across various military branches, both active duty and reserves, reserve members are currently required to endure an additional 20-year wait before they can collect reserve retirement payments. This delay poses an undue hardship for service members who have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to honoring their commitment to our nation. Reservist and national guard members contribute a tremendous amount of time , service and sacrifice away from families. All gave some and some gave all.

Currently, military reservists who complete 20 years of service must wait until they reach the age of 60 to begin receiving their pension benefits, despite the already lengthy service. This delay is not only burdensome but also affects the financial planning and stability of their families. Moreover, once these service members separate from the military, their family medical costs, such as Tricare, skyrocket from $350 per month for the family  to $1400 per month for the family with out pay to cover the cost adding an additional financial burden on these families who have sacrificed so much.

It's time to recognize the commitment and sacrifices made by these reservists and national guard. Providing immediate reserve pay upon reaching 20 years of service can significantly aid these veterans and their families, easing their transition into civilian life. This policy change would honor their dedicated service and provide them the financial security they rightly deserve.

The solution is clear: amend current military policies to allow military reserve members to receive reserve pay immediately upon completing 20 years of service. This change would reflect the true value of their service and ensure they receive the support they need without undue delay. Additional support, such as maintaining reasonable healthcare costs for retirees, is also essential.

as a reservist we are not asking to get full active duty pay we are asking for reserve pay and for fairness each service member deserves who contributed 20 years of service.

I urge you to sign this petition in support of a policy change that will bring immediate financial relief and honor the sacrifices of our greatest military reservists. Let us stand together to make this change a reality.
