The Issue

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of dedication and hard work. Every year, thousands of students in Nepal dedicate years of their lives to prepare for the MBBS entrance with the hope of achieving their dreams based on merit, as per the laws of Nepal. However, recent developments have left me disillusioned and concerned. The Education Minister, Sasmit Pokharel, and Health Minister, Nisha Mehta, have unlawfully selected a GenZ injured student for an MBBS scholarship, bypassing the merit list. This action undermines the very foundation of fairness and equity that our educational system stands upon.

The allocation of scholarships must always be transparently conducted, prioritizing merit over favoritism or any other undue advantages. Numerous students who have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to secure a spot have been effectively sidelined, creating a sense of injustice. This disregard for the thousands who compete fairly is not just a breach of trust but a violation of our laws meant to uphold transparency and justice in education.

According to the National Education Policy, all scholarships for medical studies should be awarded based on academic performance and competitive scores. Deviation from this legal framework not only disenfranchises aspiring doctors but also discredits our nation's commitment to nurturing talent.

I urge Prime Minister of Nepal Balen to intervene and halt this unlawful decision immediately. It's crucial that we stand together to demand accountability from our leaders and ensure that meritocracy prevails in every decision related to education. By holding our ministers accountable, we can protect the rights of those dedicated students who stand to benefit from a fair and just system.

Please join me in signing this petition to ensure that our educational system remains a beacon of hope and opportunity based on hard work and rigor. Together, we can make a difference. Sign now to demand justice for all MBBS aspirants in Nepal!
