As a passionate paraglider and hang glider, I have been deeply affected by the numerous accidents that have occurred during competitions this year. The loss of life and serious injuries resulting from these tragedies cannot be ignored. It is with great disappointment that I note that the International Commission for Free Flight (CIVL), the body responsible for developing and ensuring the safety of these disciplines internationally, has failed to fulfill its role effectively.

The CIVL is so dysfunctional that it is no longer even able to adequately communicate about the deaths and injuries that have occurred during the events it supervises, such as the latest world championships. This raises serious questions about the transparency and accountability of this institution and the organizers. Furthermore, the CIVL is marred by blatant conflicts of interest, compromising its integrity and ability to make decisions in the best interests of the free flight community.

It is also alarming that threats of license revocation have been issued against prominent figures in paragliding, such as Marcella Uchoa of Brazil and Julien Garcia of France. These repressive actions are unacceptable and reflect a desperate attempt at silencing and control on the part of the CIVL.

For all these reasons, I support the French Free Flight Federation's request for the immediate resignation of the members of the International Free Flight Commission. It is imperative that the commission regain its dynamism, accountability, and transparency in order to ensure the safety and confidence of all participants in free flight sports.
