Request to Meet Superintendent Funk re: EHS Boys Basketball Program Leadership

Request to Meet Superintendent Funk re: EHS Boys Basketball Program Leadership
The Issue
Our experiences have demonstrated that the Emerald High School (EHS) Boys Basketball Program has remarkable potential. This potential has begun to flourish in its inaugural season under the dedicated leadership of Coach Jason Rockwell. Despite being in its early stages, we can already envision the development of an exceptional legacy that will enhance community and school pride while providing young athletes with opportunities to thrive.
Emerald High School has faced significant instability, yet Coach Rockwell has successfully built momentum within the basketball program, positioning it for success. We recognize that all coaches are required to reapply for their positions; however, retaining Coach Rockwell is essential for restoring stability to an athletic department that has been through turmoil. Removing him would only exacerbate the disruption. Should Coach Rockwell not return, student wellness and morale would suffer, as players would lose a trusted mentor and visionary leader.
We respectfully request a meeting with Superintendent Funk to discuss our concerns regarding the potential removal of Coach Jason Rockwell from the Basketball Program and to seek confirmation of his reappointment. We believe that this dialogue is crucial to ensuring the program receives the attention and support it deserves.
Superintendent Funk, your commitment to excellence and student wellness throughout DUSD and the broader community is commendable. Your vision for building outstanding athletic programs that positively influence student growth is vital, and we urge you to prioritize this important issue. Engaging in a conversation to hear our experiences and insights will be invaluable.
PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS - Please help us make this meeting a reality. Sign our petition to support continued positive leadership in the Emerald High School Boys Basketball Program under Coach Jason Rockwell.
