The Issue

On Jan 31 of 2012, in Headland Alabama, police officers shot to death a young unarmed mental health patient named O’ Patrick Humphrey in front of his mother and then he was left unattended as he bled to death.
The local police chief and district attorney have prevented primary witnesses who were within 20 feet of the shooting to testify or be interviewed in two separate investigations.
With no eyewitness, other than the police officers who shot him allowed to testify to the grand jury, it has been ruled “justifiable”. Recently it has been revealed that the district attorney, Doug Valeska (20th Judicial Circuit Alabama), is on tape being told by a sworn police officer that there are credible primary eyewitnesses to the shooting that contradict the police officer’s account. He refuses to allow them to be interviewed by the police, or his office, and continues to order the local police chief to violate state law and not release the police report to the victim's family or public, as required by Alabama state law.

Please sign this petition and ask the Attorney General of the State of Alabama, Luther Strange and the Attorney General for the United States, Eric Holder, and Alabama Governor Robert Bentley to intervene and appoint a special prosecutor to hold all parties accountable and preserve the rule of law.
