As a concerned parent within the Grundy County High School community, I have witnessed firsthand how crucial it is for our school leadership to prioritize the safety and well-being of our children. Unfortunately, under the current leadership of Dr. Durley as the school board director, we have experienced a lack of transparency and accountability, which has eroded our trust and compromised the safety of our students.

Recently, several incidents have underscored the need for immediate change. For example, the unresolved issues regarding school security and safety protocols have left parents in the dark about the measures in place to protect our children. In addition, there have been concerning delays in addressing bullying reports and insufficient support for students facing mental health challenges. These are critical issues that require decisive, transparent, and effective leadership.

Furthermore, communication between the school board and parents has been inadequate. Meetings are poorly publicized, decisions are made without sufficient community input, and responses to parental concerns are either delayed or non-existent. This lack of engagement does not only alienate the very community the board is supposed to serve but also hinders our collective ability to provide a safe and supportive environment for our students.

We believe that a leadership change is vital for restoring trust and ensuring the safety and success of all students at Grundy County High School.
