Many Sri Lankan families, professionals, and students reside in Queensland, Australia, and they face significant travel challenges due to the lack of direct flights from Sri Lanka to Brisbane. Travelling to Brisbane requires at least one transit, and for those in regional Queensland, at least two transits. The transit timings are often unfavorable, resulting in total travel times extending up to 30-35 hours, which can be exhausting,  inconvenient and costly.

Currently, Sri Lankan Airlines operates direct flights to Melbourne daily and to Sydney four days a week. Considering the notable Sri Lankan community in Queensland, and the steady growth of professionals and students traveling between these locales, we ask Sri Lankan Airlines to assess the feasibility of operating at least one direct flight per week to Brisbane.

A direct flight would not only serve the Sri Lankan community but also cater to other South Asian travelers who might find a route through Sri Lanka more favorable.
