As homeowners in Lenexa, KS, we recently experienced an issue that highlighted the lack of transparency from our board and Design Review Committee (DRC). We submitted a design review request for a new roof color - an alternate color that had previously been approved for another home in our neighborhood. Our request was denied. Despite appealing this decision and having a hearing with the board members, the terms of our appeal are still in limbo.  The board advised us to resubmit our request and they subsequently denied it without any reason for denial the second time.

We are aware that the DRC and board are considering new language to amend the roof building standards under Article XIV, Section 3a.  However, many homeowners are unaware that a change may be proposed and the board and DRC has not taken any action to provide notice to homeowners for their input on these changes. This is not just about roofs; it's about our rights as homeowners to have a say in decisions affecting our homes.

In light of this situation, we demand that the board hold a Special Meeting specifically dedicated to discussing proposed amendments pertaining to Building Standards. We believe it is crucial for all homeowners affected by these changes have an open forum where they can provide input into any proposed language updates.
