Hello fellow Hampton Lakes Residents -

I want to encourage everyone to show up to the upcoming board meetings to ensure that your voice is heard, regarding the ridiculous notion that the board intends to enforce no street parking 24/7 in our neighborhood - effectively preventing us from receiving guests of any kind in our homes for any duration longer than 2 hours. This is a blatant overreach of power - and many people have spoken up with potential solutions to this issue.

  • Parking and Towing Engagement Meeting - Thursday, April 24th, 2025 - 6:00pm EST
  • Monthly Board Meeting - Monday, April 28th, 2025 - 1:30pm EST

In addition to the ideas of implementing a designated side of the street to prevent overwhelming congestion in some areas of our neighborhood mentioned in the petition - we the people of Hampton Lakes could also introduce the motion to add "Kaufman Language" into our bylaws. This would allow our bylaws to be governed by the newly amended Florida Statue 720.3075. This would allow residents the right to park personal vehicles on the street - and that parking would be subject to Polk County law and regulation. This means if someone is parked blocking your street, driveway, or fire hydrant - you could simply notify Polk County Sheriff to have their car removed or ticketed as appropriate. The board wants to push the narrative that without the HOA's ability to regulate street parking 24/7 - the outcome would be total lawlessness and our streets would suddenly become a used car lot. This is simply untrue - Cars without tags, illegally parked, and restricted vehicles (IE: Boats, trailers, etc.) would still not be permitted. Working with the County directly on this issue seems like a missed opportunity where our board has not explored - in an attempt to retain as much centralized power as possible.

Please attend the meetings to let them know - even if you do not have a solution - that you do not approve of these outrageous parking regulations that have went widely unenforced for years, without unreasonable disturbances.

Respectfully,

We the people, of Hampton Lakes
