Request QLD govt to reverse their latest decision on “Interstate properties and land tax"

Request QLD govt to reverse their latest decision on “Interstate properties and land tax"
The issue
This petition is regarding the announcement made by the Queensland Government in July 2022: https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/tax/interstate
This topic has property investors across Australia raising their concerns about this decision. We have decided to speak out through this online petition so that the Queensland Government can hear us.
We are requesting that the land tax reforms announced in July 2022 regarding “Interstate properties and land tax” are reevaluated as the proposed changes will cause damage to the Queensland economy and the Australian housing market.
These types of reforms scare off potential property investors and significantly increase the holding costs of existing investors which will ultimately result in higher rents for tenants. The changes to land tax will not only stop Queensland property investors from investing in other States but it will also prevent property investors in other States from investing in Queensland.
Currently, Australia is experiencing its worst rental crisis in history and this reform will further limit the supply of rental properties driving rental prices higher and worsening conditions for renters.
Most investors are "Mum and Dad investors" who are making sacrifices on their current lifestyle to build their nest egg so that they do not have to depend on the government during their retirement. Discouraging property investors with reforms like these will only put more pressure on the government’s pension fund if people cannot fund their own retirement.
We hope the Queensland Government understands our concern and will rethink their decision on “Interstate properties and land tax”
