Request Parliament to Address the Growing Litter Problem on Our Highways

Request Parliament to Address the Growing Litter Problem on Our Highways
The Issue
I am deeply saddened and appalled every time I drive down our streets. The blatant disregard for our environment is visible in the increasing amounts of litter scattering our roads, damaging the aesthetic value of our beautiful country and creating a national embarrassment. However, my attempts to address this issue with local councillors, our Member of Parliament, and highway authorities have been largely unsuccessful as it ends up in a web of blame with no one willing to accept responsibility.
It is time we bring this urgent issue to the forefront, demanding our Parliament to open a debate about the appalling state of liter on our highways. Our country deserves to be clean, green and admired, not littered and despised.
According to Keep Britain Tidy, an estimated 2.25 million pieces of litter are dropped on the streets of the UK every day. This results in nearly £1bn a year being spent clearing litter. It's not just about the appalling sight, but the finances and resources being unnecessarily wasted.
It's high time we hold our government accountable and push for more stringent anti-litter policies, improved waste management on our highways, and public education to discourage littering. We have the right to clean and pristine roads, and it is beyond time for action to be taken to ensure this.
Let’s join hands in urging Parliament to open a debate on this critical issue and take swift and necessary action. Please sign this petition today and demand a cleaner, more respectful UK.
