Request Lincolnshire County Council allocate any fines to Pinchbeck Community
The Issue
As someone who lives, works, or travels through Pinchbeck, you are all too familiar with the inconvenience caused by ongoing roadworks in our village. The delays, road closures, and day-to-day disruptions have created significant challenges for our community. It’s time for the Pinchbeck community to directly benefit from the fines paid by Burmor Construction, something I believe they agree with.
Lincolnshire County Council have imposed fines from Burmor Construction due to the delay in the project. The inconvenience we endure is a constant reminder that local improvements should be a top priority for funds generated from these penalties. Instead of being absorbed into a central budget where our village may receive no direct benefit, we call for these funds to remain local.
By redirecting the fines specifically to the Pinchbeck community, we can focus on supporting events, organisations or projects that bring our village together. Knowing that these fines are being reinvested locally will not only help mend the ill-feeling but also boost community spirit and morale.
Pinchbeck Community Land Trust (an existing not for profit group based in Pinchbeck) could act as the recipient of any funds and work with others to agree a fair and reasonable process for distribution of the funds.
It is unreasonable for our community, which bore the brunt of the disruptions, to receive no direct compensation in the form of community enhancements. By ensuring the fines serve our immediate locality, Lincolnshire County Council will be showing a commitment to standing up for the needs of its citizens.
We urge Lincolnshire County Council to consider the impact of this decision. Let’s ensure that the fines paid by Burmor Construction do not vanish into the broader county funds but are instead utilized directly for the benefit of Pinchbeck. Help us hold the council accountable by signing this petition to demand that community members see tangible benefits from the fines collected.
Your signature is a vote for local empowerment and meaningful change. Stand with us and advocate for Pinchbeck’s rightful share. Please sign this petition today and make your voice heard.
