Subject: Request to KSPC to approach the Government of Karnataka for revision of Pharmacist Recruitment, Promotion and Service Rules

Respected Sir/Madam,

We, the undersigned registered pharmacists and pharmacy professionals of Karnataka, respectfully request the Karnataka State Pharmacy Council (KSPC) to approach the Government of Karnataka for appropriate revision of the existing Pharmacist Recruitment, Promotion and Service Rules in the State.

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has notified the Pharmacist Recruitment, Promotion and Service Regulations, 2025, vide Notification No. 10-82/2025-PCI dated 08.06.2026, providing a structured framework for pharmacist recruitment, grades, promotion, duties and career progression.

The Regulations provide a structured hierarchy including Pharmacy Officer, Senior Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer, Chief Pharmacy Officer, District Pharmacy Officer/Deputy Director (Pharmacy) and Joint Director (Pharmacy). They also recognise specialised posts such as Clinical Pharmacy Officer and Drug Information Pharmacy Officer.

We therefore request KSPC to:

  •  Formally approach the Government of Karnataka requesting review and revision of the existing Pharmacist Recruitment and Service Rules on the lines of the PCI Regulations.
  • Request the Government to consider a structured pharmacist cadre with defined promotional and career progression pathways.
  • Request consideration of appropriate posts including Pharmacy Officer, Senior Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer, Chief Pharmacy Officer, District Pharmacy Officer/Deputy Director (Pharmacy), Joint Director (Pharmacy), Clinical Pharmacy Officer and Drug Information Pharmacy Officer.
  • Request assessment of existing vacancies and future manpower requirements and appropriate recruitment of pharmacists in Government healthcare institutions.
  • Request appropriate coordination among the Health & Family Welfare Department, Medical Education Department, Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department and other concerned authorities for necessary action.
  • Request KSPC to submit a formal representation to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka and the Hon'ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare seeking appropriate action by the State Government.
  • We submit this representation with the objective of strengthening pharmacy services in Karnataka and providing a structured recruitment, promotion and career progression framework for pharmacists.

We therefore request KSPC to kindly consider our representation and take up the matter with the Government of Karnataka at the earliest.

Yours faithfully,

Represented by:
Karnataka Pharmacy Professionals / Registered Pharmacists
