The people of the United Kingdom take immense pride in the contributions and sacrifices made by our armed forces over the years. Our service members have bravely taken up the mantle of defenders on foreign soils, standing shoulder to shoulder with allies in upholding peace, security, and democratic values across the globe. One such significant alliance is NATO, formed to ensure transatlantic security and cooperation.

Under the mechanisms of the NATO treaty, specifically Article 5 which states that an attack on one is an attack on all, the UK has historically honoured its obligations with valour and steadfastness. Our commitment to this principle was most recently demonstrated in Afghanistan, where nearly 500 of our service personnel paid the ultimate price, and numerous others were injured while coming to the defence of the USA and many other countries against existential threats. Such sacrifices should never be overlooked, and it is crucial to acknowledge the gravity of our contributions and the steadfast role the UK plays within NATO.

In light of this, we urge His Majesty The King, as the Commander in Chief of the UK's armed forces, to make a public statement detailing the UK's role and contributions to NATO. This statement should highlight the dedication and sacrifices of our military forces, ensuring that their efforts are recognised and commemorated by both the nation and the international community. It is pivotal for our nation's morale and the respect for our armed forces that such an acknowledgment is publicly projected, particularly from influential and respected voices such as that of The King.

By doing so, His Majesty would help in galvanising public support, boosting morale within the armed forces, and promoting greater understanding of the UK's pivotal role in maintaining global security through alliances like NATO.
