The issue

Are you a dual citizen of the UK? Are you aware of the new changes to entry conditions from Feb 2026?

New regulations set to be implemented in February 2026 threaten to disrupt countless individuals and family plans as they navigate the new complexities of dual citizenship.

The upcoming changes mean that British dual citizens will no longer be able to enter the UK using their foreign passports. This new rule demands immediate compliance, without accounting for the logistical and administrative challenges involved. It stands to affect millions, creating unnecessary hurdles for those who have long considered the UK their home, regardless of which passport they travel on.

The sudden imposition of these new entry rules disregards the realities of thousands of British dual citizens living overseas. Many of us require time to make the necessary arrangements, whether it be applying for a new passport, resolving residency issues, or managing family obligations. These situations are complex, and they deserve an understanding response from the Home Office.

What we urgently need is a one-year grace period before the enforcement of these new rules. Such a grace period would serve as a buffer, allowing dual citizens to adapt to these changes without facing immediate penalties or complications. It would provide a compassionate and practical approach to a population spread across the globe, all of whom share a deep connection to the UK.

By granting this grace period, the UK government would demonstrate its commitment to supporting its citizens abroad, acknowledging their unique circumstances and fostering goodwill.

I urge the Home Office to consider this petition favorably. Please join me in signing this petition, advocating for a more considerate transition for British dual citizens worldwide, creating a new compliance date of 1st Jan 2027.

Please take a moment to sign and share - if only to raise awareness for those who may turn up to board their flight and be refused entry.
