Yesterday, while driving on the narrow road from Letterfrack to Clifden at Moyard, Co. Galway, a dangerous rock jutting out from the side of the road caused €200 worth of damage to my car tyre. Upon sharing my experience with fellow motorists, I discovered that several others have faced similar incidents on this heavily traveled route. This road is not just any road; it is a vital corridor frequented daily by Bus Éireann, oil trucks, and numerous delivery vans.

The damage caused by this protruding rock is not only a financial burden for those of us affected, but it also poses a significant safety risk to all road users. A sudden tyre blowout or damage can lead to accidents, endangering lives. The road is busy, with ample traffic that deserves nothing short of a safe passage.

Despite numerous attempts to contact Galway County Council about this recurring issue, no action has been taken to resolve the matter. The rock continues to be a menace, waiting to claim its next victim. The council must understand the urgency and seriousness of this situation.

We urge Galway County Council to act promptly by removing this rock before any more damage occurs or, worse, lives are put at risk. The solution is simple and actionable: organizing a professional works team to remove or sufficiently alter the protruding rock to ensure the safety of all road users.
