RE: Parent Concern and Request for Review Regarding Principal Agathe Alvarez, Tildenville
Elementary School
May 11, 2026

Dr. Maria F. Vazquez:
As a group of actively involved parents at Tildenville Elementary School, we are writing because we are
deeply troubled by the manner in which the discipline and public treatment of Principal
Agathe Alvarez has been handled. Moreover, we hope that transparency and fairness can
be achieved through our collaboration, but we are prepared to escalate this issue if it
cannot. The process appeared heavily influenced by a small but vocal group of vigilante
parents whose conduct often crossed the line into harassment and personal targeting. In
turn, we respectfully ask the Board to review not only the disciplinary actions

themselves, but also the process by which decisions were made and the extent to
which a vocal minority was allowed to shape the narrative surrounding our school and its
leadership.

We know these individuals do not represent the majority of families at Tildenville
Elementary. Many supportive parents have remained silent simply to avoid unnecessary
conflict and division. However, our silence is quickly turning as we have watched the
school we love and the principal we admire be undermined by what appears to be the
witch-hunting of a few. This is not the lesson we are willing to let our children learn: that a
few, affluent, powerful can dictate the outcome of the many.

Today, we stand with Principal Alvarez. We stand with her because Tildenville Elementary
has fostered a culture centered on student safety, compassion, accountability, and
emotional well-being. We stand with her because our collective experience has been that
Tildenville is a caring and supportive school where students are encouraged, families are
welcomed, and staff members work tirelessly to serve the community. Staff members such as,

Ms. Esther Londono-Scott illustrates this environment through programs Alvarez has
supported, which promote empathy, kindness, resilience, conflict resolution, and positive
character development. These efforts reflect a school community deeply committed to
supporting the “whole child.” We believe this positive culture deserves to be recognized
and protected.

As an A+ school under Principal Alvarez, our children have thrived - and now
it appears that their wellbeing and education have been made second to the political,
malicious motives of a few.

That is not fair, not right, and that is not the lesson we are willing to let our children learn as
we watch Principal Alvarez and her legacy at Tildenville Elementary be destroyed.

The students, staff, and families of Tildenville deserve decisions grounded in fairness,
transparency, and the broader reality of the school community — not pressure from a small
group of aggressive voices. Today, we stand with Principal Alvarez, and we seek justice,
perspective, and consideration for all of the families and children at Tildenville Elementary
who have thrived and who love our school and our leader.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and service to Orange County students and
families.

Respectfully,
Elisabeth Newbeck, MSW
