The Issue

The SPEA crosswalk is a vital artery connecting significant institutions like the Kelley School of Business, the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and the Herman B. Wells Library. This area is frequented not only by students and faculty but also by countless visitors, each with their own story, purpose, and urgency.

As a student at the Kelley School of Business living off campus, I walk past and use campus/city buses which pass the SPEA crosswalk nearly everyday. This area gets particularly backed up during transitioning periods between classes, causing traffic and even risks to pedestrian safety. Our current setup is neither safe nor efficient.

A dedicated pedestrian crosswalk signal at this intersection would be a game changer by optimizing traffic flow and enhancing safety. Imagine a scene in which buses are able to pass by with ease and pedestrians cross safely without uncertainty.

By supporting this petition, we can make our community safer and more commuter-friendly.
