Subject: Request for Non-Retrospective Application of Hostel Accommodation Fee Deduction
Respected Sir/Madam,
I, a Junior Nursing Professional, respectfully submit this representation regarding the proposed deduction of hostel accommodation charges from our stipend. We humbly request that the hostel accommodation fee be implemented only from the date of issuance of the official circular and not retrospectively from the date of joining. No official circular regarding this deduction was received by us. Despite repeatedly approaching our hostel supervisors and the concerned departments for clarification, we were not provided with any official notification or a clear explanation regarding the implementation of this policy.
It is also pertinent to mention that, in previous years, no hostel accommodation fee was deducted from Nursing, Anaesthesia, or Radiology interns undergoing training at NIMHANS. Therefore, the introduction of this deduction without prior official communication has caused considerable concern among us. Further, during the recent stipend revision, the enhanced stipend of ₹25,000, vide the official circular dated 5th December 2025, was implemented only from the date of the circular and not retrospectively. We respectfully request that the same principle of prospective implementation be applied to the hostel accommodation fee.
Retrospective recovery from the date of joining would impose a substantial financial burden on employees and affect the daily living of us and several may receive little or no stipend for the current month. In addition, many hostel rooms are shared by multiple occupants and have limited space and facilities.
Therefore, the proposed deduction of 10% of the stipend (₹2,500) appears disproportionate to the accommodation provided. In view of the above, we earnestly request your kind consideration and a fair resolution by implementing the hostel accommodation fee only from the date of the official circular. We shall be grateful for your consideration and early intervention in this matter.
