We, the undersigned members of the community, respectfully submit this petition to request additional adult baseball fields within the Metro Parks system.

Adult baseball is more than recreation—it provides meaningful opportunities for physical health, stress relief, and community connection. Across our area, participation in adult baseball has grown significantly, reflecting a strong and sustained interest in the sport.

In particular, our local sandlot-style baseball league has experienced rapid and continued growth. What began as a small, grassroots effort has evolved into a vibrant and expanding community of players. Each season brings new participants, increased enthusiasm, and a stronger sense of community. However, the availability of appropriate playing fields has not kept pace with this growth.

As a result, teams and leagues are facing limited field access, scheduling challenges, and reduced opportunities for play. While the passion for the game continues to grow, the current infrastructure makes it difficult to fully support that momentum.

We respectfully ask Metro Parks to consider:

Evaluating the current and projected demand for adult baseball fields
Investing in the development of additional fields
Exploring opportunities to convert underutilized park space into playable fields
Reviewing surplus, vacant, or currently unused land within the Metro Parks system as potential sites for new baseball fields
Enhancing access, scheduling, and maintenance of existing facilities
Expanding adult baseball field access would:

Support a growing and engaged community
Encourage active, healthy lifestyles
Strengthen local connections and inclusive recreation
Maximize the value and use of public park spaces
We appreciate the important role Metro Parks plays in serving the community and maintaining accessible recreational spaces. We hope you will consider this request as an opportunity to support a thriving and expanding part of our local community.
