The Issue

March 26th, 2025 will be a day that my family never forgets. That is the day my son’s teacher escalated in behavior and physically assaulted my child to the point an injury was noted by his doctor. Disturbingly, despite claims being substantiated by the school, the teacher remains active in her classroom. This is not just our story. Over the years, many parents have reported similar experiences with this teacher yet she is still allowed to carry on teaching during the remaining legal investigation which points towards a glaring systemic flaw.

As such, we urge for the implementation of a school board policy requiring any teacher who is under active investigation, be it from Department of Family Services/Law Enforcement, for sexual and/or physical assault to be placed on mandatory administrative leave pending investigation.

This step is a crucial measure in ensuring the safety and well-being of our children, who are particularly vulnerable in these situations. Data from the U.S. Department of Education reveals that during 2015-16, over 200,000 K-12 students reported experiences of physical assault carried out by educators. We owe it to our children not to let these numbers grow any further.

A society is judged by how it protects its most vulnerable members. It's time we show where our priorities lie. By signing this petition, you are standing up for the safety and security of our children and demanding immediate changes in policy that will help prevent future victimization. Please lend your signature to this urgent appeal.
