I, along with my family, live in Minnesota. Our prevailing fear swirls around the unchecked power of our current President and what consequences it might bring for our home state. Our choice, if we had to make one, would be to become a part of Canada.

Minnesota, known for its lakes and the friendliness of its people, mirrors many Canadian attributes. With Canada’s remarkable healthcare system ranking 32nd globally according to WHO (via Statista, 2025), compared to the U.S.’s 69th placement, Minnesota’s inhabitants would benefit significantly from such a transition. 

Canada's lower homicide rate, which is about half that of the United States (Wikipedia), coupled with a higher life expectancy by an average of 7.5 years according to WHO (via Statista, 2025), make the prospect of becoming part of Canada appealing to many in Minnesota. 

We thus formally request that Canada considers extending its borders to incorporate Minnesota, not just for the benefit of its residents, but for the unity and kinship that would undoubtedly be fostered.
