Subject: Request for Additional Pickleball Facilities

We, the undersigned members of the Burlington Pickleball Players Community, request the City of Burlington to consider constructing additional Pickleball facilities in our city. Our group has 257 members and is growing, and a number of Meetup groups that offer pickleball events that book City facilities.  

Pickleball is more than just a sport; it brings our community together, promotes physical fitness, and contributes to mental well-being. Unfortunately, our current facilities at Haber and other community venues are insufficient to accommodate the growing interest in this sport. Therefore, we request the City Council to initiate a meaningful discussion about expanding our facilities.

We propose the construction of a new facility that includes both indoor and outdoor courts, which would cater to the increasing number of players and address the need for play tear round. Communities that embrace Pickleball benefit from the sport, and local businesses often see increased patronage from players and spectators.

We acknowledge that such a project would require significant planning and resources. However, we believe that the benefits to our community, both in terms of health and community spirit, justify this investment. We are ready to engage in further discussions and fundraising activities to support this cause.

We kindly request the City Council to consider our petition and look forward to a positive response. We believe that with your support, we can make Burlington an even better place for Pickleball enthusiasts.
