Fort McMurray residents have been asking for local blood donation opportunities for many years. While blood donation drives were once held in our community, they are no longer available. Today, with a population of over 82,000 people, Fort McMurray residents are left without a local opportunity to donate blood, despite many being willing and eager to do so.

For many people, travelling several hours to the nearest donation centre is simply not realistic. Work schedules, family commitments, transportation, and distance often prevent willing donors from giving blood. As a result, countless opportunities to help save lives are lost. By bringing a Canadian Blood Services community blood drive back to Fort McMurray, local residents would have the opportunity to contribute to Canada's blood supply without having to leave their community.
