Minffordd Fields in Gwernymynydd, the steps down to Swan Lane and the connected walkway at the bottom right of the steps have never been adopted by Flintshire County Council since when they were built circa 1998. Each of the houses 10, 12, 14 and 16 Swan Lane, own the individual strip of tarmac at the back of their properties and property deeds indicate these property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing the access way they own at the backs of their properties. However, the remainder of the tarmac road continuing down to Swan Lane has also never been adopted. These areas are in need of maintenance and care. The current state of Minffordd Fields poses a risk to pedestrians and delivery drivers due to lack of lighting.  Also, there is incomplete signage.

All the above areas suffer from lack of maintenance and gritting etc. According to data from the Department for Transport (DfT), poorly maintained roads contribute significantly to accidents in rural areas like ours.

Adoption by the county council would ensure that our roads receive regular maintenance, improving safety for all who use it. It will also lead to an increase in property values as well as community pride. We urge our local county council to take responsibility for this crucial infrastructure.
